Hot or Not? HR topics for 2019

HR topics

It’s that time of year when analysts all over the world are compiling their top ten lists of trends and predictions for the New Year – you can see some pretty good ones here, here, and here, if you’re looking for that sort of thing.

Over here at RedThread, we’re bypassing predictions this year in the hopes of getting your thoughts instead. Since we started RedThread, one of our founding principles has been collaboration. To that end, since the launch of our website in September, we have had a live wikisurvey in the middle of our home page to collect folks’ thoughts on the most critical people issues for their organizations today.

The survey, a great (though kinda ugly) wiki-tool powered by, uses conjoint analysis to create what is basically “hot or not” for ideas. It allows us to test the topics or issues that we think are important, but it also allows respondents to add items (that are then put into the rotation) that they think are important and/or missing. As of this writing, over 800 votes have been cast. The top 10 are shown below.

As we approach the end of the year, we’d like to give you another opportunity to vote. Why? First, we will use your feedback to help us set our research roadmap for next year. Second, we are planning to incorporate your feedback into a year-end blog that will address some of these issues and how we’ve seen them manifest this year.

So please, take three minutes to vote on our wikisurvey by December 17. Also, feel free to drop us a line and let us know if this list looks right, if we’re missing anything, or if there is something at the top of the list that you really couldn’t care less about. We want to hear from you! We do lots of listening throughout the year, but we know that having more minds on a tough problem is always better.

Thanks so much – we’re looking forward to hearing from you!
